Anna Porwit is a Hematopathologist and Medical Director of Flow Cytometry Laboratory at the Department of Pathology, Toronto General Hospital.

She received her MD at the Medical University, Warsaw, Poland and PhD at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine/Hematology in Warsaw and Pathology at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm. 1993-94 had post-doc fellowship at the Royal Free Hospital, London, UK. 1998-2010 she has been a Director of Hematopathology at the Dept. of Pathology, Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm and since 2003 Professor in Pathology at Karolinska Institute.

Her main interests include application of Flow Cytometry in hematopathological diagnostics. She has been taking part in several Concerted Actions and collaborative European projects aiming on standardization of this method, most recently in myelodysplastic syndromes.

She is a Chair of European Bone Marrow Working Group. She is a co-author of 180 original and review papers and one of the Editors of the “Blood and Bone Marrow Pathology” book (Elsevier, 2011).
